Ann and Ed have burned their Thanksgiving dinner. They decide to see if the new cafe down the street is open, as they are very hungry. The door is open so they go inside to find an immigrant family celebrating their first Thanksgiving in America. They become part of an unusual celebration. They make many friends and eat a delicious meal. Who left the door open to welcome these two strangers? It becomes a treasured lesson of thanksgiving and kindness.
