The story of the Incredible Orchestra by Koscielnaik Dragon Dancing by Schaefer
The Butterfly by Polacco
My Dadima wears a Sari by Sheth Sitting Bull Remembers by Turner The Sneetches by Seuss

We posed the question to each class 'Who has relatives from another city, state or country?" Almost every hand is raised and we point out that we live in an incredibly diverse country. There is great beauty in diversity i.e. An Egg is Quiet and The Orchestra. There is also great wisdom in diversity i.e. Sitting Bull remembers, and My Dadima wears a Sari. There afe many many books that speak to the blessings that OUf diverse cultural backgrounds bestow upon us. We also talked briefly about human civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. partly because it was his birthday and partly because his message has much to do with tolerance of diversity. Our school will be celebrating diversity during the month of February.
