Title: Bats at the Library
Author: Brian Lies
Topic: What a great place the library is, for bats too!

What a fun book this was to read to the students! It's wonderful text is in poetry form and the illustrations are just as rich!
Bats are a little bored one evening and news flash...someone has left a library window open! The older bats tell the younger bats what wonderful treasures the books hold for them. The bats have a fabulous time in the library, young and old! It is humorous and endearing what the bats encounter this fine evening.
We also, borrowed a real bat (mounted of course and in glass) from a teacher, had tons of Zoo books and other non-fiction/fiction books on bats to share. What a wonderful show and tell it was to pique their curiosity on these wonderful mammals. Bats are fascinating!
Title: The Twelve Days of Christmas
Author: Jan Brett
Topic: Christmas
Grade: All
Comments:
This was one of our classic holiday books we shared. We chose this version because of the beautiful illustrations from Jan Brett. We shared the history of the lyrics with the students and their meaning. We also could share the current price of these items in today's economy! It was also a fun song to sing and set the mood for the holidays. We decided that homemade presents for gift giving was the most prudent and memorable way to share the holidays!
