Comments:  We gave an overview of the book and talked about how in 1938 it was adapted into a radio drama.  On October 30th it was aired as a Halloween episode on the Mercury Theatre radio program.  The first 2/3rds of the 60 minute radio broadcast was presented as a series of simulated news bulletins, which suggested to many listeners that an actual Martian invasion was in progress.  This caused mass hysteria and panic to many people who did not know it was just a radio drama.  Some even fled their homes.  The students really enjoyed it.

Comments:  We read poems and even sang some of the poems in these books.  We printed the jokes and each student read one and gave the answer.  They kept their joke to share with their families later that day.  It was really fun.
