Comments: A version of the “Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly” poem/song only done with a Thanksgiving theme. Students liked the rhyming pattern and made the tex-to-text connection. They were able to recite the poem after a few pages and all enjoyed it.

Comments: I used the newspaper to give additional information and background into the period that the poem/story took place. Students seemed interested in this.
